Got back from Broadford last night, great day out and weather fine and sunny. plenty of action on the dirt track and Mx track, as expected lots of great bikes to look at and some rarities, even saw a Moto Villa enduro bike. i will upload some photo's at a later time. met lots of forum members and old racing mates. gotta love Bike people. Thanks To Roger Harvey for the Book, most thoughtful.
a big crowd took in the "speedway spectacular" with a good mix of solo's and sidecars. the 2 Vincents ( 1 blown, the other mechanically injected) had the BIG crowd and me in awe, the sound of the vinnies took me back to when i used to go to the speedway with my dad as a 6 y/o. Just wish Melb ( or any other city in OZ) still had permanent speedway venues, such a great spectator sport that was once big is now sorely missed. the dirt track was a busy place and had big numbers of spectators.
I got to Ride Ross's Cappra 414VF and loved the ride, only the second Euro bike i have ridden next to Ken Bakers Maico 490. the Monty has a great engine and very torquey, with the 4 speed box it was mostly 3rd & 4th around the Broadford circuit using the torque of the 414 engine. everything worked as it should and i got used to it easy after 1 lap and then did another 6 or so till i tired out, an easy bike to get used to and surprised me as i did have a concern about the front brake as my ride has a disc, i didn't really miss the disc strangly enough as the brake was fine (or maybe i was ridding hard enough). Thanks Ross.
also thanks to Montynut for the generous offer to ride your collection of monties, which i was keen to take up but needed a rest after the 414 then ran out of time on the day. forecast is good for another excellent day at Broady.
