I've got one in my yz125 (clutch basket) no problems but I had to use later model fiber plates.

I think Mitaka settled on a 86 yz125 plate for their baskets because Yamaha changed them a little bit almost every year in the early 80s but kept the primary drive much the same so I think their just trying to keep it simple.
