Thanks for all the pics and advice fellows.
I brought this bike in biggish chunks ( I never learn a lesson...) . Despite what a seller says it is NEVER all there, parts are ALWAYS missing and just to spice things up a bit assorted bits from other bikes, household applicances are always included to make life a bit more interesting.
Started to pull the bike down into smaller pieces - I can't be arsed to rebuild forks and shocks so those bits of been sent to a mate in Cape Town to re-do in exchange for some bits he needed for his Maico 440 and 490 rebuilds.
I took a bolt cutter to the spokes of both wheels as they (the spokes) were beyond reclamation - luckily I remembered to take a note of the lacing pattern and off set after I only cut the first hub out..
The frame, foot pegs, brake levers and engine plates will be sent in for blasting and power coating in silver. Yeah I know it should be black but the silver frame looks nice esp with yellow plastics etc. Also decided to have the tripple clamps and head bead blasted and left natural. The barrel and crankcases and clutch cover will be done in a nice black satin finish.
The biggest problem I have at the moment is to decide on a tank...at the moment it's got The huge mo fo blue item which obviously won't do. I fancy the look of the smaller peanut shaped tank- What tank should I be looking to get? A tank from a 1908 - 1982 250 Mx'er? Would it fit with out any hassle? Lastly who could supply one at a cost less than the GDP of a medium sized African country?
