.....................?? City of Penrith Motorcycle Club

Penrith still run vintage dirt track meetings at Nepean but they're a shadow of their former greatness. Penrith were the first club in Australia totally dedicated to Vintage Motocross and Dirt Track. They have run two VMX Nats (Dargle 91 and Mt Kembla 94)and one DT Nats (Nepean '97). The club ran the first official vintage motocross in Australia at Amaroo in 1988 and the first vintage dirt track at Nepean in 1989.
Hopefully a recent change in club administration will see a renewed interest in promoting vintage events again.

City of Penrith always has had an interest in promoting vintage M/Cross, but with the lack of support from members [till right now] the club has not been able to run any motorcross events for the simple fact of numbers.
Nepean raceway club events can be run with 4 flag men. sorry persons.
The nature of motocross tracks dictates that at average of 15 or so flaggies are required.
Bit hard to arrange when only a handful of 'old faithfuls' ever front up.
HOWEVER things are looking up with an excellent show of members at our club meeting last night. Looks like motorcross may be back on the agenda.
'Penrith club meets on the 2nd Wed. each month at Penrith Paceway, so if any more members would like to show a smiley face about 6:30 pm they will be welcomed and will enjoy good company and good food available on the spot.
I hope to see more of you [members or visitors] at the next one.                    cheers pancho

sorry pancho about not being postive.however things MAYBE looking up with an excellent show of members at ONE club meeting.
a couple of months ago i attended a nepean motor sport club meeting so i could put a propsal of a motocross track at the back of the track (not the pcyc area). track layout would be vintage only as it would be a grasstrack type and a short course.
this maybe the time to get the club behind the idea and push it thru to nepean.

Darwin motorcycle club run a vintage class if enough people turn up. Tracks are generally vintage friendly and even suitable for a pre 75 for the first round or so, before it cuts up

We got around this problem by using a local labour hire company. They supply the number of flaggies we need and they come with insurance etc. We give them an induction and written instructions. We charge all race entrants $30 to pay for the flaggies and the leftover goes toward a Bar-B-Q for the set up volunteers. Another sore point with our club.
The older I get, the faster I was

Yes similer to WhitSundayClub, suppose though any Oz club would be pretty VMX friendly if approached..
Also just recieved the Whitsunday Class Newsletter and there is alot of good woke being done up that way, by some hard working volunteers also..Looking at another Diamond Don Raffle and new clubs amerging are Townsville as mentione about with quote:talk of the same idea in Rockhampton/ Gladstone region and in Cairns.
Real magic when you get a good club up and running...  8)
