BURT
« on: March 31, 2011, 05:57:24 pm »
I cant help it, there is a sound reason why all my motorcycles score their own name. I bags BURT.

I was originally calling the test bed of the problematic Maico Rotary 125cc engines, Precious.

Not long after I then noticed another forum member referring to his dear love interest as "Precious".

So maybe out of respect or as not to be confused, I yield. I have spent some time thinking about a new alternate name.

Given the original 69 Maico test bed I have, shares the exact same coluors as the "Worlds Fastest Indian".

And given my dream is for it to end up as the fastest Maico 125 69er on Earth, I have decided to christen it "Burt".

So find your own bike name, cause I bags "Burt"

Herbert James Munro ('Burt') and the "Worlds Fastest Indian"

One of the greatest inspirations to my current existence, Burt.

Hi Alison, to respond to your PM.
Sadly, Its a pain.

I want to slip it through full normal road rego before I do anything to it(then I can go nuts).
I need a tyre for it to pass inspection first though.
I spent most of this morning on the phone calling bike shops around the country :-[

I Have just bought one tonight from the good old US of A, half hour ago 8)

But I suppose I will have to sit on the front step for two weeks and wait to the post lady to arrive now ::)

Hey Mick,

I hope you're going to replace that Metzler on the front. She's probably a little hard by now,

Pete.

Don't worry Steve, the thought crossed my mind ;D ,but Pete is right you can tap it with a spanner and it sounds like tapping a rock. I have got a new Yoki on the rear.

I thought the new tyre would be here soon ::) I got an email on Saturday from the seller, saying he "just posted it". I have decided not to sweat the little things anymore(unhealthy), so I guess i will just keep busy with something else ::)

I found it Dave, or I thought I did ::)
Good old Wikapeadia :D

The "Munro Special," as Burt Munro called his bike, is now owned by a motorcycle enthusiast in New Zealand's South Island, and is on display at E Hayes & Sons, Invercargill. There is also a second motorcycle purported to be the original "Munro Special" in America.

So in actual fact, we are none the bloody wiser ???
Except that it is now an even money punt.
