Been lacing wheels for many years, but here is my problem.
I'm going from an 18" mx rim to a 19" inch rim to be used for flat track.
I ordered spokes one inch longer than  stock.  I got the wheel laced, but
the spoke lengths are too long and have run out of spoke thread.  Is adding
1 inch in spoke length the wrong to go about it?  Does the mx rear wheel with a conical
hub causing a problem?  The mx rim is a 2.15 Akront and the rim I am using is a 1.85.  What am I missing?

Shouldn't they have been 1/2" longer. (plus 1" on dia)

find a 20" rim and they should fit no problems ;D

Hi Jed..don't feel bad I have done much worse far too many times. going to re-lace my Husky 390 wheels after I polish the spokes and rims( in good shape but ugly-I can polish for almost no $). I sure hope to make it out to Az in a year or so too. Is it possible to have spokes cut and threaded ( does Buchanan's offer this service)?

YES Buchanans can make you any spoke you want. They also manufacture spoke sets for various brands world wide. I have bought spoke sets for Triumphs from British spares in NZ and they ended up being Buchanans, so British spares is getting spoke kits made in USA.

These were Buchanan spokes.  I found a local wheel shop that will cut 1/2" off the spokes
and rethread them, but I need to check to see the price per spoke to do this as it might
be cheaper just to order 36 spokes from Buchanan (I'm a dealer) and start over.

I think you will find spoke threads are rolled and not cut. They are a weird size thread so it might pay to check out what is being proposed.

Looks easy....
Lots of subtle differences to cause problems:

Cross patterns, Offset of nipple holes from centre line (may be different for different width rims)
Different spoke lengths used for conical hubs(and often spoke diameters too),
Angle and clearance of bends in spokes to suit hub and rim.
Offsets of hub flanges from the centreline (usually to align sprockets or clearance for cush drive)
Angle and clearance of dimples & nipple holes pre-drilled in rim to suit original application.
Eg: Does the first dimple to the right of the valve stem hole point upwards or down?

why are you going to use a 19 wheel there is only speedway tyres.much better tyres in 18 for dirtrack

The majority of flat trackers here in Arizona and California are using 19'' rims on both ends.
There is a good supply of 19" tires from Maxxis, Pirelli and Goodyear/Dunlop.
