interesting read in latest Old Bike mag on Greenhills speedway,MA track licencing ruling seeks to prohibit use of oil to compact track surface, local councils cool with track as is,(they're using cooking oil),having ridden on remnants of oil tracks,much preferr that surface to what we have to experience now,for instance Nepean's dust is a pain in the rear,we're lucky to get through a couple rounds due to constant necessary track watering,so,seen to be green ,

I'm a true believer in oiling track of all kinds.
They where the best tracks,back in the day of WA North West Speedway.
I class myself as a conservationist,not a greenie.. 
This oil treatment has only got to save on water that we dont have. 
We need good practicality levels of enviromental sustainability.

Action Park is going through the same thing.  I personally think it can be defeated by adopting standard environmental engineering best management practise.  But with that you have experts dealing with f467wits that have no idea about what the outcomes really are.  As the new mmcc secretary I was also considering asking for heritage listing at Action Park to maintain the basic integrity of the venue (including the oiled surface).  The dirt track community should start a class action against MA and smash em with science.

 I think you'll find it's not MA thats the problem.
 There are  a lot of other oils out there that are suitable, for instance that crap olive oil that spain has dumped on the oz market to try and put high quality oz oil out of business, plus that horrible canola oil. The only other use for either of those is to lubricate machinery.

So does anyone know who is really behind the push to convert oil tracks to deco?  Maybe the local water truck drivers association!  MA must be getting pressured by someone.

I'd have to give it away if I have to travel 2 hours to watch a water truck do more laps than me.  That means less income for MA (admittedly not by much though).

Dust is considered pollution as well, who the f87k has come up with this shite?

Amazing that they got away with it for so long,as its been a "no no" here in WA since the early 90's by my memory.
Sometimes life sux     .....then you ride into heaven skiding side ways

In all honesty, you're right Mick.
There has been a massive kneejerk over reaction to oiling tracks and as a result, we the competitors suffer.
You only need look at the amount of events that Griffith got through at at last years Nat's.
Nepean has become frustrating to say the least, the close proximity of local residents means it would be a big struggle to change things there, so we need more feedback from someone like the CSIRO.
The old surface was over oiled and had become like bitumen, considering the oil used was a mix of anything & everything it's not surprising.
Without drawing attention to our Mafioso brothers, it would interesting to know what lubricants they use?

The use of bitumen emulsion is considered "best management practice" in the civil construction industry for dust supression, and the waterways just love that shit!

Action Park Raceway is an oil track about 800m long x 10m wide and has a LOOSE SURFACE!!!! So all you vmxers slip on a trials tyre and come and join in.  Word is a few enduro stalwarts from the sunny coast are looking at joining the action. Did I mention the mmcc relaxed atmosphere at events?  Good for those just out for a ride.
