Reckon I must have been a bit unlucky as I raced sub-juniors with Anton, Ronnie Dinsdale, Grant Cramer, Andy Horne (anyone know his werabouts?) a quite a few other quicks. No wonder it was hard to make the podium. Nice to see that some still have an interest, welcome Anton.  Ronnie hadn't changed when I ran into him at the Nationals held in Ravenswood when he took home all those "house stumps." (trophies were mounted onto big pieces of timber.) Couldn't work out why the maico stalled on the start line till I saw Ronnie's big foot across the exhaust and a big cheesy grin across his face. At least he had a better haircut than he did in the 70s. I think he just loved that Romper Stomper look.

Stan, was the Seaford track the one off Ballarto Rd? Think my last race there was in 74 as I started racing Speedway in 75. Good little track, flat as a pancake with a creeek crossing in the middle to give it a bit on interest. Always thought the Korumburra track would suit VMX as it was laid out for the 3 wheeler boys but it never seemed to get a gurnsey.

Confirmed, Seaford track was off Ballarto Rd. Think it's a housing estate now. Had my first race there. I remember the dried out creek crossing. I think it was the first time the Yamaha MX400's were seen in Vic. Steve Cramer on one if I remember. Cheers Jerry

I remember a track around that area ... with the creek in the middle. 

And the pros were jumping
INTO THE CREEK.   I won the C grade there.   And I also learned I couldn't be an A-grader, cos there was no way
known I'd bloody-well jump INTO IT.

I have been involve with vintage ever since it started and l have race against Mike Landman over the years, but he has showed no interest in the vintage race meetings here in Victoria, so why are you making a big fuss over this guy.  Big deal if he goes to the UK, who cares, Ron Dinsdale rates higher on my list as a contender.

I have spoke to Mike a million times over the past years regarding VMX, trying to bait him. His got his own genuine reasons ie.. Past injuries giving him buggery for a long time there, full on shedule with modern mx, would want his own bike to set up etc.. the list goes on and all is fair point. If he was to do it, i think it would have to be 110% due to his competetive nature.  I have watched him race the veterans nationals thing at Traralgon back in 02 when he rode my brothers ktm 520 and got 2nd to Jim Ellis, he raced a CRF450 with "L" plates at Pakenham thumpercross in 08.  He is one hell of a bloke,what he does or doesn't do is his business and definately doesn't have to meet your expectations.

I think you will find that Mike is keen to ride Farliegh in vets modern (on a modern bike ) Mike and most of the other legends walked the walk back in the day and got everything out of the now vintage bikes when they were new .

Lets face it most of the people who ride VMX are , were and always will be wobblers  we never rode the bikes in the day to their full potential and we still cant. The good riders from the day have nothing to prove they did their talking in the day .

I remember when Graham Noyce bought his RC 500 out in the early 90s and got beat by some kid half his age , kids running round the pits like hes christ almighty cos he beat an overweight ex champion twice his age 

I think noycey parked it up for a few years before getting into vintage , Ex champions have nothing to prove to anyone in most cases they were and still are heros to us 

Mike and the other legends did it when it counted and if they choose to come out and ride occasionaly with us now and then thats great if not then thanks for the memories 

I hope Mike can get to Farliegh and wish him every succsess in the vets modern
