Fantastic!!! The Britten is the greatest motorbike ever made IMO. I have been trying to see one for years. I know a couple came and raced at Bathurst in 1994 at easter. I missed them then, not this time.
Cheers, Grahame.

I remember being at a meeting at Manfeild when they were running 2 riders in superbikes/formula 1. 1 bike died crossing the finish line & between races the other bike had everything removed so the lead rider could mantain his challenge for the title. It was amazing to see how little actual bike there was, seemed like the motor was about 70% of the total bike

Everything bolted on to the motor, headstem, swingarm and fuel tank-seat. Rear shock and linkage under and in front of the engine. 145kg, 170hp in 1992.

That was exactly how it looked stripped down, no frame at all & if my memory serves me correctly the seat held the radiator. Seemed like it took no time at all to be reduced to a pair of wheels & engine on a trackstand. No flash pit set ups back then, all out in the open in a animal stall with a lot of very interested spectators

Pretty sure I am, Woody.
The good thing about telling the truth is that you don't have to remember what you said.

If anyone is interested in reading about another great kiwi  ;D ;D ;D there is a brilliant book on John Britten written by Tim Hanna. ISBN1-877333-08-5 published by Craig Potton Publishing. 500 pages and heaps of pix.  I takes you through the struggles of the Britten's design, manufacture, development and racing program. I got a copy at the Brisbane Bike Expo many moons ago. Should be available still I would guess.  A Britten is on permanent display at the national museum Te Papa in Wellington. Only one I ever got to see in the flesh so if one is at HBBB then that is worth a gander.
