Dave, you’ve already owned a 250 twinport and you let it slip through your fingers. If your continually looking for something that doesn’t need working on then your wasting your time.
Your 74 KX 125 should be a great little bike ( Maybe I think that because I would like one myself)
You need to stop looking at the classifieds and just sort this KX and start turning up to events.
The grass always looks greener on the other side of the fence but when you get over that fence you will always find it just looked different from a distance.

For those of you that are wondering what Dave's wanting us to help him decide on, here's a shot of Klub Kevlars Mick Taylor and his one owner F21M in front of the Kompound at CD5 at Raymond Tce.

Anyone can own a CZ, almost get 'em at Woolies by comparison to the Kawasaki - its a no brainer Dave - as long as you ride the thing; got wheels made round to go round. :)

These discussions nearly always come down to whatever presses our individual buttons. Doc's passions lie in Japanese equipment so it's a natural that he'd pick the Kwaka. Ditto my old mate Mr Tanner....his forum nom de plume gives us that much insight. I myself love those dumb old Yamahas from the same era but....and it's a big but, I'm pretty sure Dave wants to race whatever he buys, not restore it as a lounge lizard or as a once a year Clasic Dirt curiosity.

We all know that Dave's attention span on these bikes is....errrr....a tad short, so perhaps he's not the best candidate for the 'race or restore' discussion but given an equal playing field and using Daves personna as a racer, I think it's a no brainer (to borrow Dave T's quote for a sec) to pick the CZ. For one, you can still buy parts for those old 'Chay-Zeds' but Kawasaki F21m parts are almost non existent.
While the Kawasaki engine is a real gem...the suspension and chassis dynamics are extremely poor when compared to the CZ which is fitted with state of the art for the period forks and a good solid frame that does everything pretty damn well. The engine is one of Motocross's all time classic powerplants and knowing Dave...the CZ resale options would be much better  ::).
If Dave wanted a trailer queen, the Kawasaki would be a cool thing but as a racer, the CZ wins every time in my humble opinion ;).

I have spoken with mick, dont you just love it, it a beautiful unique bike, fellows the kx 125 will be on the track,l have been buying up new parts for the KX and the wheels will be built as soon as l can get them to greame dawe. I just would like a f21m 250, or cz twinport, but as much as l have owned a twinport before and it need a lot of work plus l promised a friend that he could have first option if l found one.
l only wanted your opinions fellows, and all of you have been very supportive l thank for that. The price of the f21m will kill my discission to buy either bike.

Tm Bill l don`t have any photo`s of the KX , l can say that the frame has been powder coated, tank has been completed, new seat, its has new guards, l am looking for a new airbox and would like a pair of fork tubes, the original fork tubes are ok but they do have a couple of rust pitted in selected areas.

That trial bike as you call o90, are and where a very quick bike in there day, l have footage of my brother racing it in 1967, At a sunbury race meeting in 1967 -68 my brother was beating Ivan Miller that day on the f21m, unit the piston let go. Brad know one knows a lot about them. I have had the offer now to buy the f21m, l am waiting on the photo`s. anyway
l think this sport is about the classic bike not about having the best machine and winning on the day, my brother raced the f21m and was sponsored by Kawasaki Australia at the time
now dennis has died and l would like to buy it and race it in the pre70 class with his race number. There are 6 twinport cz 250 and one f21m that l know of here in Australia, one more on the start line would be great.

The way I see it, all bikes were ''quick'', but it was everything else that lagged behind in the 60's and 70's. The chassis, suspension and brakes that have changed the most. Between looking at the F21M and the cz's I know, there is night and day in that department. Not that I have thrown a leg over one. Buying one or the other can only be an emotional buy and cannot be compared. Out of interest sake, what is an F21M worth?

I was offered this same f21m about 12 to 15 months ago and he wanted $14000 for it, so l declined the offer, now the offer is getting more realistic, you would pay for a fully described f21m about the same you would by a cz twinport.
The f21m produces 35 bhp at 6500 rpm, weight of the bike is very light.

It's not like you're going to go out and win a current world title or such, that chance went out the door in the prescribed era's many many years ago..history in other words.

'Most' vintage bike purchases are influenced by emotion or sentimentality or the occasional investments. I'm sure as eggs I, or anyone I know for that matter, wouldn't buy a vintage bike that didn't appeal to me/them just because it's a poofteenth 'faster' than other models of the era. Obviously the CZ'z appeal to you Brad and you have nothing but praise for them, they are nice bikes and may whoop the 235 kawa but come to a choice I'd still rather have the F21M. Given the option I'd even have the kwack over a post '74 RH250. I'd also  have an F11M over a post'74 RH250 not because I don't like the Suzuki's (pretty obvious) but simply because some kwaks appeal to me more regardless of performance. All vintage stuff is nice and all are now getting quite old, enjoying whichever you decide should be the main objective ;)
