MAICO 490 1981
« on: January 02, 2011, 11:32:06 am »
I am looking to off load my Maico 490 as I can no longer race MX.
I thought I would advertise it here before I put on e-bay in case anyone is interested.
Has only been raced at "Double in the Dirt"in Brisbane for the past 2 years.
Please pm me if interested.

Will be very interesting to see what this fetches, best one for sale in Australia for a while.

They have been going at quite low prices in the U.S at the moment and with our dollar almost at parity it means a mint worked U.S Maico for $6,000 can be landed, taken through customs and everything else for under $8,000 Aus.

A lot of people have no contacts in the U.S though and are scared of the importation process. Considering that you may get close to $10,000, maybe more, who knows. I'll be watching

Yes much. If you lived in USA and would help out you could sell bikes to us Aussie's like cold beer at a Shearers picnic.

If you would help out it would cost under $1000.00 to import bikes to us.
Given that there some models we just never got or only had a few imported we would buy bikes. Most people selling bikes don’t want the hassle to pack bikes for shipment.
I don’t know how the US market is but guessing by the amount of quality bikes on Mark's swapmeet that don’t sell I guess it's slow. Simple really you can buy bikes in the states for $2500.00 that sell easy here for $4000 to $5000. Good Maico's sell between $6000.00 to $10,000.00. I would call this business opportunity if I lived in USA and I sold old bikes for a living.
