The owner of this shop is looking at somewhere around $1000000 in damages..this amount of water is almost unimaginable with a good part of CQ now submerged and more to follow..the drought sure seems a distant memory  :-\

Maybe for you blokes.............  :(
One would hope they were insured well enough. I saw one guy on the news with a shoe shop claiming he had no insurance at all.  :o
I guess you're ok, Doc? Anybody else out there need rubber boots? Let us know how you're doing.

hot and humid here in the burbs of Brizvegas Tony..had nice falls but we missed most of the big rain..seems to stop at the Sunshine Coast, then skips Bris. and then it continues it's deluge down the Gold Coast and Northern NSW.  Where I sit typing the waters would have to rise about 6 metres..this area would also store about a dozen bikes and some bits and pieces..need a plan just in case  ;) if it rises more than 6metres then I'm in deep..literally!!  :o

I live near Mt Tamborine and we were flooded in for 24 hours or so.
I went for a look and found this bloke ferrying people on his jet ski.
In between trips he was having a good old time!

I think a local wedding was a casualty of the flood.
One of the driveways had a sign noting 'Ben & Kates wedding 100metres'.
I counted maybe seven or eight cars in the middle of the afternoon.
Not sure which side of the flooded creek Ben & Kate were on...

For me personally the level 6 restrictions don't apply - yet!
I'm on 100% tank water; we have no town mains at all.
However, I work in Shopping Centres and I'm up to my arm pits sorting 'compliance' for every drop of water that runs through the place.
Meters on supply pipes, flow restrictors under the sinks, waterless urinals, dual flush toilets, bleed meters on the A/C cooling towers and on it goes.

The water issue has become it's own self perpetuating industry.
Forms for this and that, weekly meter readings, on the spot audits, threats of fines...
Yep, it's all important but I can't help think some of the rules and regs are being put in place as a means of being seen to be doing something.
But it's a good wake up for the wasteful amongst us.
I can't see we'll ever lose restrictions entirely - maybe back to level two if the Country gets back to normal?

Perth is nowhere near as short as you guys but several years ago "normal" water restrictions were introduced - talk now is that regardless of water levels we get to they shant be lifted - ie restrictions on when you can water the lawn etc.

That's basically the story in Canberra: "Level 1 is the best we'll ever get in the future, live with it".

At home (Yass) we went from L3 (with threats of L4) to L1 in one day.... Apparently the catchment is huge, but the storage capacity is minimal. I've really gotta bite the bullet and get serious about water storage: we've got enough roof space here, and one itty-bitty little tank...

FWIW, I feel for anyone copping the brunt of the floods ATM. Having lived through the ACT bushfires just over 5 years ago, I know how they changed many people's lives.
The good thing about telling the truth is that you don't have to remember what you said.
