Cylinder sleeving

Gentlemen,
Please could someone provide answers to the following cylinder resleeving questions.

a)What fitting tolerance is required between iron sleeve and alloy cylinder?

b) Would fitting tolerance be same for iron sleeve into iron cylinder?

c) What surface finish required on bored alloy surface to take iron sleeve?

d) How is sleeve retained in alloy cylinder?..

a) 0.05-0.07mm (depending on thickness of sleeve)
b) Iron cylinder would not need a sleeve
c) Not an issue
d) interference fit (see answer a)

If its a two stroke, make sure you scribe the sleeve on the outside to track it as you press it in as they can twist while going in. Make sure the gap of the rings on the piston are over the bridges between ports. You can also heat up the cylinder a bit to expand it before you press in the sleeve. Even in a domestic oven. Its a bit tricky the last one we did, i helped the guy the second time round and he swore he would not touch another...

True you can be sure they will twist a bit but you don't know which way. One thing is a absolute MUST is, after the sleeve is pressed in the pressure must be left on the sleeve until cool. Otherwise it will pop up a bit.
