need to get some new tyres... whats everyone opinion. i been looking at the michelin M12 mid terrain. they look pretty chunky.

I have been using the Michelin and like them allot.
Current bikes. KTM MC 250 77 Husky CR 360 77, Husky 82 420 Auto Bitsa XR 200 project. Dont need a pickle just need to ride my motorcickle

I've been having a great run with Bridgestones for a few years - but I also see quite a lot of S12 Michelins in the pits!
Destined to a life behind bars. A garage full of KTM's and a 73 CR 250M Honda....H7 250 Monty will be at Harrow!

I find m12 front s12 rear works for me although I've done some very muddy rides on a m12 rear and found it hooked up quite well and was better on hard packed dirt or rocks.

Love the M12 front.
Been trying the Pirelli Scorpions lately also- pretty hard to fault.

Bridgstone 404 rear and 403(i think :-[) front is the tyre of choice for myself.  i have tried quite a n8umber of different brands to see if there is much difference, and found the bridgy's to hang on really well in all conditions and seem to wear very well. Next tyre i try is them new dunlop mx51's ??? they get a good wrap

ahhh yea... reckon i might give the m12s a go...  i had a old bridgestone motocross m22 on it before... would just spin the wheels everywhere.

    Ive run intermediate michelins on a few bikes over the last couple of years and found them very good allrounder ,but after a while start to chip or loose a few knobs ,especially if it's a bit rocky! aparently theres another newer model (S 12- XC) which are now made in spain and not thailand that have a better compound,? dont know if there available in oz yet ?

ohh yea, might look into it... yea most of the time i am in soft sand or compacted dirt or a mixture. dont really see to much rocks unless i take it up to a mates farm. but wont be often.

I think they were made in the eu originally (Spain ?) and then they started coming from Thailand but the Thai ones tended to cut up badly rocky rides just murdered them they felt like a harder compound or something. But the last few I've bought were Spanish and they've been better.

Been available for about 12 months now.

Fronts:
Haven't used an S12XC, but the old S12 is hard to beat on a prepped MX track. For a soft terrain tyre, they grip quite well on hard stuff, but they don't last if you do that to them...

The AC10s are very average tyres, even allowing for their "all puprose" design. I really like the MH3 as a do everything tyre - good grip everywhere, excellent feel, and decent life.

Someone on these forums once said "Dunlop have never made a decent front tyre" and I reckon they're right. 756 is pretty good in the soft, but a S12 will murder it. 742(?) isn't bad as an enduro tyre, but they're not much chop on an MX track. 739(?)s seem to work well on some of my bikes, but awfully on others.

Happy with the two front Bridgestones I've got - M401 & 601 IIRC???

Rears: Round, black, with some knobs on it and its all good. I can't really say anything useful about rears - everything seems to work about the same for me.
I guess S12s are my default for MX bikes for the same reasons the fronts are.

AC10 mitchelins wear out quick. If you want michelin and your gonna do any sort of tar/dirt road work then get the Baja or Desert models. I take it this is for the PE? Pirelli MT18 and MT21 are not too bad either.

Also if its for on road use make sure it doesnt say not for highway use or NHS as the cops can ping you.
