SA Registration Search

I noticed on another forum, alink to a registration search website for vehicles in Tassie. You could find info like when it was last registered, engine number etc.
Has anyone heard of a similar site for S.A. vehicles?

yes there is. its called ezy reg. i will go find the link now. i used it to look up my PE 250 and found it was last registered in 98. i take it you want to find out some info on your registered KX?

have a look around here. you need engine and frame number and i think rego plate number. its picky how you type it in eg with dashes/spaces etc. if you get stuck sing out. also to look up your vehichle online it costs a couple dollars.

I don't have a plate number anymore and it was sold unregistered.
So as far as they are concerned, I've been the only registered owner and so, should be able to reregister it easily................. maybe...............

that would be really good if you can get it on the road, just as long as you have a quiet muffler

im not sure how you will go if you dont have not got the old rego plate number. im sure if you drop into a rego office with your engine and frame number it would be on data base. when was it last registered? i think with those online searches you need to punch in the rego plate. can you remember it? im sure it can be done, but i know if you get a no answer it pasys to go back there the next day as some of those people over the counter have no idea at all. if you bike was over 30 yrs old it would be real easy to get in on historic rego and you can get around the difficlties of registeing bikes with no compliance plate or rego history. if you get stuck speak to me again.

Yeah, I just found out that I do need the plate number, which I haven't got.   
When I'm ready I'll call the rego department.
But you're right, I tried once to find my Dad's old C12 BSA (cos I had a Vic rego number) and everyone on the phone would tell me that it was last registered in 1987, but wouldn't give me any other information. 
Actually my KX was last registered in 1987 as well (as a KDX 500 though) and as far as the rego people are concerned, it never changed hands. I'd hardly use it, especially on the road, but it would be fun to do anyway.

oh yeah they wont give you any details of previous owners. thats strictly forbidden. i rang them up to see if they could give the any details of the last owner who registered my bike so i could ask them if they had stuff like missing lights, battery holder etc but i got a big no. they wouldnt even let me explain myself and basically hung up on me. it bugs me becuse i know they have that info but they wont give it out

another idea, go to the nuri cop shop with the engine/frame number and they should be able to do a search there as well. when ever we get old bikes registered that have no previous rego we have to take the bikes to Nuri and they do a search on a database to check its not stollen. i cant remember the form but i can find out. its a MR... and some numbers. you then take that form to the rego office and it will help get it registered. im pretty sure you will need to do that anyway if the rego office doesnt have records of it. but i think you have to take the bike there anyway and you cant just go to the police with a piece of paper with the numbers? im not really sure on that. they usually dont care what the rest of the bike is like. as long as it looks roadworthy thats it, they dont care if you dont have blinkers or chain guard and stuff like that. all they do is look at the engine number.

YEs but imagine all the peanuts ringing you or looking to steal your car or somthing, that info is dangerous n thw wrong hands.  The bikies for a while there had persons on the inside doing a search on fat boys etc, getting the address and owner details and going round and picking them up.    Stolen to order so to speak, happened with cars also on seasonal rego, especially F100 for some reason.

yeah but this was to contact the previous owner of MY bike which ive not got, not to suss out what they have.
