Queensland IT400C's
« on: November 24, 2010, 01:02:44 pm »
I'm looking for any Queensland IT400C's out there (especially Brisbane or South East/Central QLD)

From what info I can gather one went to Mt. Isa (Col Forgan), one to Townsville (Brian Foster), perhaps one to Cairns (John Penhaligon), and 3 stayed in Brisbane.

I think I have the Townsville motor, and I think I have the frame and motor of one of the Brisbane bikes.  (see http://ozvmx.com/community/index.php?topic=16180.0)

In the space of 35 years, bikes will have been moved all over the country so I'm not holding my breath, but you never know.... I may get lucky.  Someone out there may have one I may be able to trace back to my Father.

So if anyone out there has or knows of an IT400C that may be one of the Brisbane bikes, please contact me!

Thanks, Tony

Apparently there is an IT400C here in Perth, saw it advertised for sale about six months ago but it was sold before I got a chance to look at it. I think it might have been you I spoke to on the IT Australia forum about the bike?

Yeah, Probably.

I know of at least one other in Perth - it's a one owner bike.  The bloke bought it new in 76, raced it for a couple of years, then parked it in his shed....  Before I found my other bike, I tried for about 2 years to talk him into selling it.

He was restoring an IT175 at the time, and I think he was looking to put the money from the IT400C towards the 175.  But when it came down to it, I think he'd had it for so long that he couldn't part with it....

In a Rev's issue from March 1978 it shows a photo of Allan Cunnyngham and Rob Haskins gearing up an IT400C for the Dalby 3 day. That be another ;)

Can't tell too much from the photo, but it looks like a D-E or F motor (C's didn't have the slots in the barrel fins for the one piece rubber vibration damper)

No such luck - still pissed I missed out on that IT400C still in the crate.... First heard a rumour of it at the Conondale Vinduro in 08, but by the time I'd found someone who knew where it was it had sold..    :'( :'(

I'd rather have my Dad's old one though...    ;D

Maybe I'll find it one day.....  Worst part is no-one has records of engine numbers anymore.

There has got to be alot of interesting bikes still in crates I'd love a pe400 in the crate. ;)

The only way you can find your dads is keep looking hopefully you can spot something that says that is it my mate had a few PE's and his pe175 he got new came on trading post for $400 and he didn't buy it. ::)

I also sold my mx100 then it came on ebay sprayed pink and sold for more than what I sold it for. ::)

That's why I'm looking for Queensland IT400C's - only 6 came in to Queensland so any I find increases the chance of finding it...

If I do find it, I may have to sell one of the restored ones, but small price to pay..   ;D
