The generic Yamaha conical hubs have a rib that runs across them (not the two that run around the outside of the brake drum). It's roughly 5mm wide, and 4mm high, and looks like it exists just to help the casting process.
If I was to machine it off, and then fit that hub to a race bike, would it come and bite me on the arse?
What about the same bit on a rear hub?
(I'm thinking of building a bling bike, because I obviously need another project. But I still haven't come to terms with the idea of having a bike that I don't ride, so it'd have to be race-able).
