The very first vintage motocross race I ever saw (Sandhill Ranch, Ca, 1986) featured a 1-2 placing by a couple of these little Monarks. I think the winner was ex Monark factory rider Scott Wallenberg, today the publisher of Racer X Magazine. Despite their infamous gear selection problems, the little 6 speed Sachs engine is a pretty quick unit.

Alison everything up to a small block Chevy will fit in the Sprite frame*, it's a pretty accommodating piece of kit. I'd be looking for something a bit more user friendly though. What's wrong with the Villiers that's in it now?

*Maybe not a Chevy but a 500 unit Triumph certainly fits.

Alison find yourself a stormer engine or Starmaker. then it would be a lot better.

Alison..Sprite actually released a Zundapp powered version. The Zundapp engine is very similar to the Sachs so if you feel the need for a 125 Sprite why not consider one of these? They're easier to find than a Sachs and not a bad little engine, albeit with similar gear selector issues as the Sachs.

Just inquiring thats all,as Firko said it an accommodating piece of kit.
The Villiers in mine has an electrical problem, though Steven will sort out ,time permiting.  :P

Hope the above little Monark gets up and running.
thanks

Dave, the Sprite frame looks nothing like a Wassel frame , even from a distance. When you put them next to each other their totally different designs are clear. The biggest similarity is that they're both made in England. ;)
Compare the below shot of a Wassell to the above Sprite and you can clearly see what I mean. Underneath is my American Eagle frame destined to eventually receive a Maico engine. Go and have a re-read of the Sprite/Alron/American Eagle saga in the British section.
