My 10 cents worth  ::)

The YZ 125A is a sort after bike as apart from the cool asethetics is is a genuine pre 75 125 class contender (when set up correctly )

The RM 125M and S models are reasonably sort after due to them being the origial RM model of any capacity .

An RM 125S set up correctly is a genuine pre 78 125 contender .

Both models are limited by a 5 speed box.

The YZ is a reasonably rare bike but there is almost certinaly at least one on ebay all the time.

The RM 125 M is a fairly rare bike particlary outside the US (and not a lot come up over there )

The RM 125 S is a fairly common bike in Australasia but seem to be scarce in the rest of the world (strange as i remember there were many in the UK )

Both great bikes imho however they are chalk and cheese as far as racers go , personally if i could only own one it would be the cheese  :)

All that cheese will make you fat, Bill.  ;)

Seriously, that's a pretty good summation. I guess the main thing I'd add is that pre-75 bikes always carry a bit of a premium/are more desirable compared to equvilant pre-78 bikes.
Eg: If the question was YZ125A vs YZ125C/X then there's no doubt that the A is more sought after, despite the later bikes being the better bikes to ride (and despite the later bikes' value being jacked up a bit by the value of their fuel tanks...).

The good thing about telling the truth is that you don't have to remember what you said.

Yes the S is the works bike you have when you don't have a works bike.

I can remember when my brother Brian pick his up new from Mayfairs Suzuki in Brisbane, what a great looking bike it was.

I have all Honda's but would and will buy one when I find a good one.

Don`t forget MX125A, IS AS GOOD AS THE YZ125A, In 1975 l was sponored on a Rm 125 S, great bike and quite fast a little bit more peaky than the honda, l like it but when l had the opportunity l would jump back onto my CR125M, 1973 MODEL, l liked it better. l also raced a 125 mxA, and there is not a lot between this model and the yz125A, only the Tank. At haywood back in 1973 myself on a MXA and Clyde Tucker on a YZA, at the end of the 5 lapper at the finish line he won by a half a wheel, and the only reason he won, l missed a gear and struck neutral. An mx 125a sorted out is as good as a yz125 A.

I would think the RM125S is more collectible, like Bill said there is nearly always a YZ125A for sale on ebay or Marks swapmeet.

I think there pretty close but I would just favor the YZ. The YZed is worth more money. They are both pretty bikes. Is'nt it great where finally taking about vintage bikes again. 8)

No it isn't.
There's not a huge difference, but the YZ is definitely the better bike.
More power, closer ratio gearbox, CDI, and a bit less weight (no autolube, alloy rims, alloy tank).
The good thing about telling the truth is that you don't have to remember what you said.

Port the barrel on a mx the same as a yz, there would be no differents, read the test shoot out on both bikes, they favoured the little mx.
