HTE V twin side valve engine
« on: January 14, 2008, 09:40:02 pm »
Anyone ever heard of an HTE side valve V twin? Motor looks similar to a WLA Harley but has as its only marking "HTE    Sydney pat pending" paid $100 for it with the view of making it a coffee table number for the pool room, anyone got a clue? I'm guessing it may be an industrial motor but interesting all the same, will post a pix tomorrow.

I'm pretty sure they are a WW2 vintage pump engine made, as it says on the cases, in Sydney. I went to the Maquarie Towns bike show on the banks of the Nepean River a few years ago and there was a WLA Harley style bike there with one of those engines in it. I spoke to the bloke and he informed me that the bike had been built in Sydney in the 50s and was totally hand built and all Aussie including thre frame. Wanna sell it?

Remember working on one crudely mated too a Godiva Fire Pump. Ex Victorian Country Fire Authority Austin fire truck privately owned by a farmer. Crank was totally shot unable to source parts and was scrapped for a Briggs and Stratton. >:( Fifteen odd years ago maybe? next time I go near the farm will stop and ask for you. Tim
I may not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it.

Yep it's a Howard engine used in rotary hoes. A few people over the years have shoved them into harley frames but they need some major re camming to get them to run over 10 mph.
