the v-rod engine is a road version of the harley road race bikes.the road version was engineered in the porsche factory in germany by porsche engineers believe it or not but true.cheers gary
Not exactly, the V Rod has nothing in common except the basic layout of the VR1000, it is much larger engine and I am not really sure what the MoCo were thinking, my guess is the V Rod would end up a platform for a larger engine for the big twins.
Except Harley riders won't accept water cooling.
Harley out sourced development to Porsche related engineering studio as it was cheaper... the VR1000 was built to run US Superbikes, twins races which it did quite decently but wasn't a Ducati and didn't have the same $$$$$ race program.
