i have just managed to track down a pulse coil and it should arrive mid next week. this hopefully should solve my no spark issue, its got me stuffed as it ran before i pulled it down. i have swappped the CDI and Ign' coils that i have spare to no avail.

Anyone really good on bike electrics? i have checked resistance of all coils and they are all within spec, output of alternator is ok. so this is why i suspect a pulse coil.

Anyone know how to test a 2 wire pulse coil other than resistence check ?
are they a like a proximity switch ?

Hoony did you fall for the old powder coating trick?  Scratch some paint of somewhere  and very likely you will get earth and spark  ;)

Best earth is to run a separate wire from the coil to the stator plate.Off the trigger a 0-4V peak signal is OK

Thanks Guys for the input, yes i have a good earth and no i did not powercoat frame.

pulse coil should arrive on wednesday so i will have another crack at it then. A big pissed off at present and i will wait for my frustration to subside before i attack it again.

Lozza, thanks mate i will check output for 1-4 V (i assume this is an AC voltage)

forken thing.

pulse coil arrived, still no spark. it has to be the stator breaking down as i have spares for all other items.

Boy am i pissed off. i will have another go tomorrow when i cool down.

no joy as yet guys. i have sourced a stator from ebay and hopefully and i maen hopefully i will get it from the US by next weekend as the Viper Social day is on. if not i will ride the 250.

I am very dissapointed at present, i either have 2 faulty CDI's or its the stator. time will tell.
