Scrutineering question - Clutch lever ball end

Sorry for a dumb question, but I haven't raced for 15 years.  Do I have to have the ball ends on the clutch and brake levers (mine are broken off) to pass scrutineering for the Pan Mac Vinduro and club VMX and club Vinduro?

Handlebar levers must:
Have ball ends with a minimum diameter of:
15mm for levers longer than 76mm
10mm for levers shorter than 76mm-(I thought moderns looked a bit short  )
Measure no more than 200 mm from the filcrum to the extremity of the ball.
In other words- Yep ya need balls

add in all your spokes being present and correct and that should be that for MX. For enduro on public land then you will have to generally have you registration straight....depending on where and how excited the scrutineer gets.

and now that most wine bottles are sealed with a screw cap stopper, how can we use the excuse....

I need to buy a couple of bottles of red to use the corks to plug up my handlebars,.. yes dear,.. it's in the rules dear

some things were better, back in the day 

and now something pertaining to the thread.... a pair of levers will set you back roughly $30.00. take your perches with you, so the shop can match the right lever to them

More and more these dayz I see plastic guards than the old aluminium style bark busters--Not good for the wrist bones    :'( ............IMO

Not sure of the other states, but if you turn up to a MX event in Victoria with Bark Busters you will be asked to remove them before you get on the start line.

No for vmx/mx in WA.
Down to personal preferance I suppose for vinduro and enduro.

Interesting, I have been a MA licenced scrutineer/machine examiner for quite a few years and have not seen anything in the MOM's/GCR's that that allows this. The only rule I know of relating to "Barkbusters" is in the MX section, and it basically says that hand lever protectors must be single mounted for MX/Supercross, but can be double mounted (ie fix to the end of the bars as per Barkbusters) on bike used in club and interclub open terrain MX.

I also ride clubman level reliability trials, with a bike that is fitted with double mounted Barkbusters, and at every event the scrutineers check for the ball ends on my lever, both at the pre-event machine examination and also at the final examination after the event.

Thank you all for your helpful information.  It seems that some things don't change - a diverse interpretation and application of the GCRs, but generally common sense prevails one hopes.   I have got new levers and will carry the old ones as spares.   

Spokes are all good too.
