Well it's wide open seeing as it won't be at Conondale next year.
Is that confirmed Sir Brad or still up in the air ???    I would have thought Conondale was the obvious choice and will still happen.

It would be a travisty if its not at connondale  :-[ I know the other states feel agreived that its in Queensland and they have to travel but Connodale just lends itself to the event so well.

I have been to CDs in other states and while they were still great events nothing can compare with Connondale (and i live 3000 Kms from the joint  :)

But hey im just a punter and if the scmcc dont wish to host the event thats their call.

Finances permiting i will be back for CD 8 no matter where it is held and also back for the Connondale classic should it be held next year   :)

Bring it on well be there  :)

Conondale is great but after 2 trips there i am up for somewhere else, and i travelled (i.e: drove from Melbourne) in both cases. Victoria has had a fair run so lets see what someone else has got to offer. As much as the location has got to something to do with the success, its the people that run it (VMX Magazine) and the punters that attend that make it what it is.

If that is indeed the case, it would be interesting to know why the club don't want to run it.
As an (uneducated) outsider, it looks like a huge success and a great event for any club to get, albeit a huge amount of work.

I'm with Bill in that I'd love to see it back there (and I'm over 2000km away too) but I also agree with Bahnzy that it's the people involved that make it such an event.

well if you were consdiering ranger uranium  ;D - you are all welcome here in Tanzania - 2 advantages - 1 you wouldn't glow in the dark afterwards and 2 you could check out the Serengeti on the way home - now that sounds like a plan!

I'd just like to remind everybody that Classic Dirt events are conducted by VMX Magazine and at the end of the day, it's a commercial venture.  They cannot make any sort of public announcement until negotiations are concluded, regardless of where the event is held. So while speculation is fine, no-one should act upon any information on this forum unless it originates from VMX Magazine itself.

Also, any speculation or allegations about any such negotiations are not appropriate and are very likely to be more harmful than useful. Whether CD8 will be held at Connondale or elsewhere will depend on commercial negotiations which we are not privy to, and unnecessary commentary may prejudice those negotiations.

So please bear that in mind.

I second the above. It can be in Papua- New Guinea and I'd still go. Whatever the final choice is, you can bet that the decision has come after some involved consideration of all of the options available.

That all sounds a bit serious.
I thought this was just a bit of fun trying to guess and coming up with ideas of where we'd like it to be.  ;)
I can't imagine anyone is trying to undermine due process. Or am I missing something............ again..............  :D

It IS a bit of light hearted fun. But it's still a PUBLIC forum, and the actual business of making CD8 happen is a commercial undertaking with all that entails. The post you have referred to made incautious statements that are in no-one's best interests.

As I was the one that put that post up please explain in detail what was "incautious" about it,<SNIP>

[I'd have hoped it would be reasonably apparent that commenting on this matter in public in this manner would constitute 'incautious'. Are you suggesting you represent the SCMCC and that you are making formal statements on their behalf? I don't wish to seem overly heavy handed, but bear in mind that as the owner/operator of this website, I carry a significant amount of personal responsibility for what is said here. I will therefore ask that you and everyone else immediatley cease speculation about negotiations between the SCMCC and any other party in relation to CD8. Also, I would ask that you do not comment on my actions, or my statements. I shall immediately delete any such comment, and the thread will be locked and then removed. Let's return it to light hearted wondering about where it will be. - ADMIN]
