RacerX is cool, they often cover the history of the sport with some well written stories. A year of two ago they did a feature on VMX where David Pingree went and had a go at racing several different bikes. Also the publisher Scott Wallenberg is a vintage racer and ex Monark factory rider from the 70's

Whats in it ? Sidecars or Moderns ?
Wasp, I think they cover a recent sidecar event from the UK.

Sidecars are units made pre 85  (or a copy there  of ) . They are of  twin or multi cylinder construction . Anything else is a Moped  :D  Anyway , I think ODD  just fergot that this is the VMX forum and not the RMX forum  :D Nice try  ;)

Mines a single built pre85, must be a moped or an rmx then, but then again I think you claimed that it was once your practice bike wally!

Have 2 of Russell's CCM motors fom those days. One has had the gearbox cut off it as it wouldn't hold 3rd gear. Studs were welded to the crankcase remaining and an A10 gearbox mounted. Also hae Ron's/Russells JAP motor. To increase it from the 500cc a large spacer is used under the barrell. When Ron was ill in 93 he wanted to get rid of all the motorbike stuff left and concentrate on restoring his first truck. I obtained the JAP in the "Arab" dirt track sidecar, a Lindsay Urquart centre hub steering road racer sidecar, used to house a CB750 and was raced at the International meet at Avalon, Ron blacked out down the back straight, crashed and laid on some old railway track as the back was a bit sore, found later in the week to have been fractured. Also got the CCM stuff as I had been in VMX for a while then and had aquired one. Unfortunately all the Wasp frames had been on sold after their seasons to finance new projects. I  moved to Brisbane in 94 and swapped the 2 sidecars to the gentlemn who owned the bristish bikeshop in Beaudeset for some CCM gear. Also haven't seen them surface anywhere. Presently restored a 73 CCM, 2nd going in a 79 build when I have time/dollars and finally the sawn off is going in a Speedway frame to replicate the B50 experiment that BSA did in the early 70s. Still chat to Russ, tried to convince him to come back to VMX for Nats/HBBB, (he rode my maicos in Vic 90-93) but he is well and truly tied up in his speedway car jaunts and can't be tempted at the moment. Feel sorry for him first wife (now ex) burnt all his trophies/saches and photos in one of those loving bust ups, so he has little to show for the years when he was a top dog.
