MX100A, very original. SOLD!
« on: September 30, 2010, 01:56:44 pm »
The good:
Mostly unmolested bike in much better than average condition - still has the original front tyre!
Decent compression.
Good spark.
Good chain & sprockets (believed to be the originals).
Original levers, grips, etc.
Old style Renthal bars (straight originals included).
Good rear tyre (about 70%?) and very good replacement front tyre included.
New VMX-Plastics front number plate.
Almost brand new NOS/NLA LHS side-cover (see pics). Excellent RHS side cover. You don't want to know how much I paid for these...

The Bad:
Something wrong with the kick-starter mech. I discovered a circlip off the idler gear, and replaced it. On the third kick, the gear lever didn't return (can easily be pulled back up by hand). Then I got the poops and decided to sell the bike...
Gear lever wobbly in pivot (Davey Crocket can rebush them).
Rear guard could do with being scraped back.

Other stuff:
Autolube all present and intact, except for the oil tank cap. The side cover on the bike has the factory oil-pump blanking plate, which I think means its a YZ125A part(?).
Spare, original handle bars are straight and not cut down, but could do with a rechrome.
Front numberplate not fitted to give buyer the choice of original fittings, or the later style wire clips (I can supply the later style).
I cleaned the carby float bowl, and it was free of the usual gunk.
The old gearbox oil came out beautifully clean, free of sludge and/or 'sparkly bits'.
After the kick-starter screwed up, I clutch started it - bike fired and ran but stalled before I could find neutral.

Anyhow, here's the pics:

$750ono, in Yass, southern NSW (near Canberra).
SOLD.

At this point, I believe the bike is sold - just waiting to see the money in my account before making it official.

But I'm confidant enough that I've pulled the ad from Ebay.

I'll soon be selling my 1974 Yamaha MX125 and a shitload of NOS and Wiseco 125 and other small sized pistons, rings and other associated stuff. I'm busy on some writing projects at present but when I've got them knocked over I'll give the bike a cosmetic tidy up, check it over and collate what bits and pieces are going in the deal. I'll then offer the stuff up here first  but if there's no takers it'll go on eBay. I'm hoping to sell everything together as a package rather than go through the dramas of listing every part seperately. Life's too short for that shit ::).  The bike's absolutely original down to the front tyre with the exception of currently having a DT175 top end fitted (the original standard bore top end comes with the bike).
