Whos the lucky guy???
« on: January 10, 2008, 11:57:45 pm »
Not me thats for sure!
Wow, went and dropped a couple of bikes off today. When i got there my jaw dropped! I was looking at a YZ250B,YZ360B and a YZ500B (actually not being a YZ guru i think they were B's ,yellow same look as an SC500 of the era). All in great original condition. Then there were 2 trick flat trackers like the ones Freaky was posting up with the good frames. I asked the chap there a few questions but he was a bit reluctant to give out too much (which is a good thing) but i could see they came from the US and he said there was some history with these bikes.Any body want to claim them from the forum? Love to know the story behind them ,like how they were sourced and the history as well.

Where is the rest of the message 090  i cant make sense of it.  You speaking in tougues again ?

where were you  when all this happened ?   where You at the Oxenford depot ?

if so i got 5 bikes still up there ( still saving the $1k for the transport back to SA).

Was one this white 74 flat tracker in a champion and the other Flatty had no front forks in it on a pallet ?

Ok i didnt think that was that hard to read?? The topic says "Whos the lucky guy???" then i started with"not me thats for sure". Are the B's yours as well? I did see the one you have pictured, the other one was covered up with no front end. I didn't see the yellow one but was told it looked even nicer than the white one. So what is the story behind them if you dont mind me asking of course.

So you where at oxenford when all this went down ?  The peice of the puzzle you left out was where you where when you dropped the bikes off, thats what i ment by not making sense i know there not yours but you needed to narrow the field of where you saw them before anyone could put there hand up.

If so Yep all 5 bikes are mine, like i said im saving up the 1K to get them back to SA.

Not much of a story really the History is up in the air until i can prove it anyway but as to where they came from the white yamaha Flatty i got from craig the current president of VFTA (michigan), i was after his 124 Astro but we got stuck on the $3500usd, so i only took his YZ champion, in hindsight i should have bought the Astro too but meh hes still got it and i got to sell some bikes off anyway i got to much stuff as it is,  the evel knievel Purple flattracker has no front end which is why i have been chasing the betor front end in the forums ( since found one), thats the champion project i was looking for a while back :O)

They Yamaha Motos are indeed the 250 and 360, i got onto a collector in San fran who was cutting down his double ups, i orignally got onto him about a 250, bought that then a few emails latter he mentioned he was going to sell off the 360 so i grabbed it to.

I was spewing as i did get onto a great YZA 250 for $3000USD, but the chap had a guy already (a freinds mate) coming over ( not advertised) and he said if he didnt take it, it was a done deal, you guessed it the other guy turned up.  There are still a few bikes over there under priced, as there are here, but i think the trap is do you keep the bikes you can ride or only the one you can look at, having both riders and keepers seems a little bit silly and self indulgent

Now the US rate has gone back im going to sit on my hands, cull my extras and double ups and perhaps just keep one good one of each CC and one rider of each CC class and code. that way i can enjoy them and can just sell or trade my good ones to get the next good one up, if that makes sence ( as in sell a goody for another better goody )

090 IF i can get all my bikes in one spot i keep meaning to add to the fridge/Shed Photo gallery post if its still going, but im still building my house and all the bikes are either here against one wall of what will be the lounge room, at the shop or down at the missus farm shed. Trying to get 15-20 bikes in one spot is more difficult than you can imagine, and if i bring them here im only going to smash them with a ladder or peice of gyprock  :'(

But yep WHos a lucky boy then............. ;)

No, it was a 10 second conversation where i said nice bikes and he said yeah and there is a bit of history with a couple of them and would not elaborate any more, hence my question regarding wanting to know history.

Hey Freakshow!  Just taking delivery of one of our bikes at the shop right now and am drooling over what is most likely your new bikes!  Beauty mate!  My boss is going nuts over 'em "Who is this guy?!".  Very jealous, beautiful frames.

Where are you Don ? in SA

Funny you say that,  Paul the driver told me the other day he had 5 stops between melbourne and Adelaide.  Infact he was so spun out about the interest level, he called me on his mobile phone, " you wouldnt beleive this every stop i have made someone has came out or pulled up as i was unloading a drop off, they stopped me and got in my ear about them,  3 used you real name and 2 pulled i think a forum name ?  what gives i had custom bikes onboard and not a battered eyelid, how come they all know you anyway"

Kinda proves that VMX is far  far from dead, either that or you guys get around town a bit.

Geeze you wouldnt want to be sneaking a stolen bike out the country, he was also telling me he got asked in the main street of tailem bend by a farmer and i think last years fellow racer from the discription he gave. There is nothing in TB, what a tripper

Don Are you at SA dirt bikes or somewhere ? im trying to think of the stops he had on board.

Yep if you taking about the nickel platers did you check out the welds ? im goig to post a pic i thinx, how perfect are they run for 30+ years old stick welds id say...perfect craftmanship.
