Yeah, I'm a bit curious as well, advertising on ebay shows some imagination. Would be a great event, give us 50 something year olds the chance to be 14 again. Wonder how many racewothy (not coffee table restos) XR's are out there. Been a long time since the symphony of a grid full of angry XR 75's has been heard.

Mick Murnane started the whole vintage minibike race scene back around 1995 here in Vic with the World Vintage Minibike Grand Prix, I suppose to take the mickey out of the Yanks calling everything the World championships , it got so big in the late 90's to early 2000's that we had 3 classes of vintage minibike racing but it was prodominately hot XR75's on the starting grid, with the exposure of the XR's came the upward spiral of a price of an XR75 and aftermarket goodies which made allot of the collectors of the these bikes mothball them into there loungerooms;D ,they still have the the World Vintage Mini Bike Grand Prix at Boagy's every year but nowwhere as big as back about 10 years ago, good luck to who ever is going to try and get this off the ground but bare in mind if he reads this he better have some rules in place before the event because theres allot of "Big Big Bore XR75's" out there that have some serious mods done to them :o .

All I am trying to say is that some of these Big Bore XR's make a stock XR75 or slightly hotted up XR feel like your riding a QA50 compared to these monsters which would make a mockery of the event, going by his promo its over a year away so plenty of time to get yourself organised to build that project XR you have always wanted to race ;D ,I don't think MA have any rules for the vintage minibikes as far as I know ???

I guess the choice is to try and regulate to what extent the mods can go or just open it up set a few basic rules which can be easily checked and let it go from there. The guy or guys organising have that decision.
No matter what mods you do at least there'll be no worries about getting blown away by a stock YZ80b. :'(
Isn't there some MA or FIM rule that says you can't call an event a world championship unless its sanctioned by them.

it brings a tear to the eye when I think back on my first minibike - an XR75 - lovely little thing and I had a relationship for many years!
