I know I'm supposed to be working but I couldn't help myself, I had to see if it ran. It does!  ;D
The engine feels really tight and doesn't rattle however..................
The air screw's gone astray from the Amal carby so you can imagine the speed it 'idled' at!  :o
Just need to get me hands on one of those and try again, but it all looks really promising.  ;D

I run still run an Amal carb on my 76 Monty with no drama's. If you need parts for the Amal contact Peter at Bultaco parts Australia. He has a good stock of parts and he is happy to give advice. he can also get montesa parts out of Spain but they are $$$$.

Mine's a bit later than that model, but I think much of what they've written relates to mine.
I emailed Peter re. the air screw earlier today and I think Jared's got most of the other stuff I'll need as well.
So it may well end up being Vinduro - ready relatively soon.  ;D

I'm actually in two minds as to whether I do a restoration or just keep it for what it is. Especially as it seems to be quite original. Although I am leaning towards leaving it as is............. I think.................  ???

Leave it as it is. Trying to do a full resto on an enduro Mont would be a nightmare I reckon' (unless you live in Spain)..... :-[

Vinduros are for riders, garage queens need not apply.

If you get too involved with restoring it you will only grow to hate the events for taking the gloss off everything you’ve worked to make shiny.
Besides you will just get carried away (as we all do) and the bike won’t see daylight for 12 months or more.

Do what needs doing to make it reliable and comfortable and enjoy the ride

Yeah, I do need to spend more time riding than in the shed.
I think if I had a nice up-pipe for it, it would make the ride that much more fun not worrying about mashing the original..........  ;)
