broken kickstarter shaft? :o
didn't someone on here mention a while back that that was one of the real sore points with this model?
shame if it is as they're a pretty neat looking bit of gear.

How unmolested is that? I reckon that kicker shaft must have broken in its first year going by the condition. I'd love to own it ::).

I reckon it's a pretty good price for such a clean bike. Of course that model was considered pretty ordinary and wouldn't be the finest choice as a race bike but like Graeme says, it's an important historical stepping stone bike and deserves its place in any collection. Sometimes we have to take our helmet off and look at a bike as a collector piece/ cool CD bike rather than as a racer At first I figured that it was a well preserved original barn find but it appears that the bike has been restored at some stage. The engine appears to have been repainted going by the painted over scrapes on the ignition cover. Maybe just the cover has been painted. I'd like to know for sure if all the gears still exist in the trans before parting with my readies though ::).
As far as the CR500, ever since I sold my big Maicos I've wanted another 80's open classer, just for Classic Dirt laps and some dirt track fun. If any open class bike was better than the 490 Maico it was the CR500...just look at their championship success. This bike appears to be pretty good but I've asked JoJo just why it's so cheap. I'd be pretty sure that an engine rebuild and suspension upgrade would be on the cards. Still no reply but I'm not too worried, I just paid for my new Hindall this morning so I'm a bit over my budget for the month so if I missed out...so be it, I won't break out in tears. :'(

I replied to him that I can get the bike to Australia for half of the 1k he's asking and to ask what the general condition of the bike is? I await his reply with baited breath.
