As Firko mentioned in a recent post, there's plenty left out there in the woodwork....

I will never understand how anyone can go out and buy a new motorcycle and barely, if ever, ride it and then keep it locked away for 30 years. A PE250 wasn't exactly "collectable" when new, there must be something fundamentally skewed about some peoples sense of priorities.

;D

And to answer the question, a fair bit more than $2500 I would guess. It will be interesting to watch  ;) :).

Lots of the stories seem to involve people getting sick/getting hurt/dying soon after purchase, and taking decades to work out what to do with the bike.

Sometimes people buy stuff on a whim, and don't bother selling it when they work out it was a frivilous purchase.
The good thing about telling the truth is that you don't have to remember what you said.

I can remember these being discounted by Colemans for $1700, they were about the cheapest thing you could buy, I may have ridden the last new one sold in NZ.

hardly a dream come true in its day....maybe $3000

There is a certain Suzuki dealer in Newcastle that has a hoard of new bikes from the 80's and several works bikes. And the collection is growing  :o

There is a few bikes in our town that have sat since purchase in the 70s and still sitting due to family deaths and this
quote from USA:
I just started going thru a large
inventory Kawasaki and Suzuki parts that had been deemed obsolete and
put up in storage about 10 years ago. They came from one on southern
Californias largest mototcycle dealerships.

There's truck loads of it our there still- keep lookin... :P ....
Best is in the West !!

A collector that hoards bikes that never see the light of day! He did have them on display at his old shop 10+ years ago but too many people touching/sitting on them.
