cr480 price

Hi all
Thinking of buying a 1982 cr480 in good cond.
Anyone know what I should expect to pay for
one.
Are they a good bike/collector.

Any where from 2800 to 3500 for a average to good one up to 5 for a good resto

Nope that's a good price for a bike if its mostly complete.

big bore 2 strokes are very collectable, much more so than their 250 & 125 brothers

The bike is complete and going.
About 20hr riding since rebuilt ( top & bottom)
new front & rear tyres + some spares

2 isn't bad but make sure the engine builder checked that th left hand centre case isn't cracked behind the clutch cover common problem and if not fix can be a costly repair

Terbo, bikes at that price are not for sale for long... check it out, buy it and ride it like you stole it...

Terbo, depending on where you are that is.

In Australia that is a good price if in the US it would be average.

I have 3 big bore Honda's a 84 500 in used but good condition thatt would be worth 6K, A very good rebuilt 83 480 that sits in my office that would go for around 7K and a 10 hour since rebuild 82 480 that would go for around 6K.

The 82 is the least sort after but are still a good bike. Mine has DG pipe and SM Pro rims with stainless spokes, white powder coated frame and re-zinc plated everything, so that adds a little to the cost.

82 are a lot more common that the 83 (talking 480's).

They are a great bike to ride and sound great. I can not ride it as fast as I can a 250 but there is something about a good 500 that keeps you coming back.

Sounds like a bargin if you are only going to spend 2 or so K on it.

i reckon it's a good deal too, any of the early 80's evo big bores are quite desireable/legendary to a lot of people and anything in good nick for $2k is a bargain.
