Any CCM Guru's out there?

so what is a mark cooks frame is it also 74 model or 73 , so is it weight that determines the differance.

Mark Cook makes many different CCM frames but the frame shown is a 1973 -Very similar to the B50
The 1974 frames are quite diffent at the back .
Having had both a well soted B50 with good suspension and lighter wheels is hard to beat for a race bike

thanks rowdy, l have had a quote off mark cook, for a new frame, and a quote for a complete bike finished, big bucks. has anybody seen the quility of these frames from the two manufacturers. about 200 pounds the differents in price.

Mark Cook makes great frames and just about any other component to suit CCM including hubs ,and engine components
I have purchased a number of parts and the quality is always top class.Maxwell frames also look good but the finish i(in my opinion ) is not quite CCM quality
Suggest you have a look at B50.org web site plenty og good info Grouty and Mark Cook are regular contributors

Dave, Grouty put up this picture of his Mark Cook 73 frame for me, I thought it was what you were looking at when asking about Mark Cooks frames.

Anyway, you need to stop looking, you will do your dough if you try to turn what you have into a CCM as you will end up selling it beofre you get a chance to ride it.
You will need cases as well as a frame for starters.

David, as Geoff said it is a long haul to build a new one.
The new frame you see pictured is a one off job. I wanted a standard production replica frame, not the later 73 works "SP" type ones. These then evolved into the 74 type frame.
My frame cost a bit more as it was a one off. The frame is really the cheapest part. If you have a B50 to convert then you are on a winner. Mark also builds genuine replica wheels and fork yokes. The side cases will also set you back a bit.
Is it worth doing ?  Yes, definatley ! After racing my B50 for years, and then getting on my 73 CCM there was no comparison. The CCM is soooo light and nimble I never wanted to ride the B50 again. So I sold it to a guy in Japan.
I want the replica to race as my original one has just a wee bit of history. To break the frame on that would break my heart, so I had to do something.

good for you bazza, as l won`t be selling my bsa either. still thinking about buying a new CCM. but l done want to break up my original B50. So l think it will be wise to buy another B50 engine and build a ccm.

You can always use the big bits of your B50 until you find a new motor  Then put the original back together.
