Any CCM Guru's out there?
« on: August 01, 2010, 10:11:03 pm »
Hi guys
I have a 73 CCM frame to repair.
Can anyone give me the dimension between the sidecover bolt holes as marked in the picture.
The rear end has been pushed upwards and forward and I need this dimension so I can be sure that I can get it somewhere close to original.

Any close up pictures of the rear shock mounts would be beneficial as well.
This is a 73 frame.
It seems the 74 frames are differnt so won't be much help.

Hey GMC
My 73 measures 290. I would be a bit worried about the rear loop as that one looks to sit too angled, if that makes sense.

What is the patch at the rear of the oil bearing top tube ?
I can upload some pictures tomorrow of my original 73, or the new frame. I will also measure the two bolt holes.
I would be a little concerned at the strain the rear end has caused on the top tube. The tubes that run down to the swingarm area look bent too.
This is a common problem with the 73's if jumped too hard with shocks that are too long or too hard.
So far mine has survived un-bent, even in the hands of Bob Wright !

Geoff
Will PM Photos
Looks like the backbone has had a cut and shut to make more like a later bike
(75 STYLE?)

Cheers

Thanks for your help guys.
Yes the backbone has been cut & shortened in an attempt to update it to the later model. This is why the rear end looks odd as it has been rotated forwards & upwards.
My best guess is that the patch on the backbone was the piece that they cut out of the backbone, having those measurements for those bolt holes will help confirm how much I need to rotate the rear end backwards.
The tubes that run down to the swingarm have been cut & bent forward, as those bolt holes currently measure 242 on this frame.
It shouldn't be too hard to put back, I just need an idea of how the shock mounts should look now, the owner could only find B50 shock mount photo's, while they may be similar it will be good to have it looking right.

Many thanks for your help guys, much appreciated.
Grouty, is that a new frame or an old one replated?

Also the chain guide underneath the front of the swingarm is missing. Are these available as a standard type item to buy?
It needs swingarm bearings too.
I imagine the needle rollers will be common place at the bearing supplies but where do you source the hardened sleeves for the rollers to run on?
I sent the owner off to check these out but you guys seem to be in the know.
Can you offer any advice to replace these items?

Cheers,
Geoff

Can someone tell me the differents between Joe Maxwell  74 ccm frame and Mark Cooks CCM frame, Mark frames look like my b50 frame because the rear loop looks the same, and maxwell frame rear loop looks different which would be the better frame to buy, or just keep it orginal. Has anybody got Tony Clarke Phone Number. To me the CCM frames are a bit special than the b50 frames but there is not much differents between the two, or is there, or is it just weight saving and nice welds. I would like some honest answers.
