G'day A
It was fairly common for nose cone type fairings to be fitted to Dirt Trackers in those days , Charlie Edwards might have started the fashion, I have a photo, from the same magazine, OBA # 18, of Gary Flood chasing Ray at Romsey, Gary has a nose cone , Ray doesn't.
Tony Day still has one fitted to his Hagon 84s and there are a few still around.

I used a nose cone from a busted up dolphin fairing on the road racing R50 that I built up. Dolphin fairings were the in thing in road racing of the 60's consequently quite a few got busted up, and a fair few of these smashed ones got trimmed up and appeared on short circuit dirt tracks.

No Mick, mine was an R50 BMW, riden over the development period by Freddie Boyd, then Gordon Doble and at Bathurst ridden by Terry Law.
Very fast top speed, very poor acceleration and very expensive experience for a youngish mechanic on standard wages. Then when I sold it to this pommy turd from Warrilla my mom let him take it without paying.
I learnt a bit from all that.
 cheers pancho.

Since a few of the above Legends mentioned will be attending CD8 up at Conondale I have been doing a bit of reading etc on these guests and for some reason Ive always thought Matt Daley of the younger era and now see in your post photo above Foss that he would quiet well be over 50  ;D was he the pup of the Titles back in the day ? out of the general Speedway riders as age racing wasn't even a spark in our racing fathers eyes  ;D

After also reading the below book and just finishing a nice little story in the OBA #24 on Winifred Wells journey across the Nullabor on a Royal Enfield Bullet-wouldnt it be nice to have a few Lady Legends at CD8   ;)
also book Fay Taylour: Queen of Speedway.

cheers & thanks A
