yes Titman was a great rider, as was Phil Crump, Billy Sanders, etc and many many other aussies, i just highlighted the World Champions that were aussies

Alison, a good site I found was the Veteran Speedway Riders Assoc and there are links all over the world.
You'll find plenty of good stuff there, I haven't looked in there for a while so good luck.

Seen a briggs conversion barrell the other day a bloke had, i guess that and the neil street ones kinda makes you realise why aussie have been playing speedway for so long and keeping the fire going.

yes vaguely, i only Raced speedway at Victorian Low level (B Grade) from 1988-1992. i never rode Mildura (due to distant from Melb) i rode at Undera (Shepparton), Myrtleford, Avalon, and the Melbourne Showgrounds

Guys Les richters was a speedway rider as well

Thanks Curly,I suppose what I was after is people that have raced and created there own website,bit like Danny"Maggo"Chandler in USA.
Some of the stars in the day stayed with it and are still doin it in the dirt.  8)

Some days, you just have to head down to the local library for some old news.  8)
The Collie Mail newspaper still has a large sports section and even back in the day it was going off-1976

i am amazed at your thirst for knowledge on all things with 2 & 3 wheels. Speedway is a very interesting sport and there is a wealth of books out there on the subject. i reckon it is probably one of the most documented disciplines of motorcycle racing.


Heres a great book shop Alison that has anything on wheels (or can get it) sorry i couldn't find a website. they are local to me if you want anything and i can post it over to Wait Awhile
