Claiming a Works bike back in the day...

The old AMA claiming rule got a mention from Lozza in the Evolution/OEM thread; recent pictures and the story of the one and only successful claim (Marty Tripes RC 250 Honda) can be found on this site if you're interested.
Go to the column on the left and scroll down to 'Tripes RC 250 found':
www.vintagefactory.com
It's a series of pages scanned from 'Çycle' and 'Motocross Action' magazines.
Cycle magazine pulled the bike apart to compare it to the stock Hondas of the time.
I think the whole Vintage Factory site is of interest, but particularly for the Honda freaks out there.
I'll attempt to attach a photo of John Roeder (the infamous Claimer from '79) pulling the bike from storage in 2005.
Apparently it's been in storage since 1979!!
I'm crap at attachments so this may not work...

I know the clutch basket on the werks bike looks like swiss cheese, and they said in the article(mag) that the transfer ports were quite different. But the whole claiming story in the magizine is an interesting read.
