MC television trivia quiz
« on: July 21, 2010, 10:42:24 pm »
Ok guys, I will say a line from an ad, and/or give a clue, see if you can answer what the television advert was for and what model bikes were in it.  Give it a go yourself, let's see who was bike crazy enough to remember the old ads.

"boots ready Stanley" wheelies out of a barn.

Johnny O - Tahition_Red factory rider.

No I can’t get that one Johnny.
Here’s one but.
I live in Newcastle and yonks ago I remember a local dealer running a Controversial TV add, that caused a stir.

It went (beautiful blonde in hot pants),
“hey girl, how would you like something big Red and throbbing between your legs?”

“well hop an a ------ -- -------- at ---- ------- motorcycles and go!”

couldn’t get away with it these days, Germane Greer, would scream foul
all over it.

Well.  I heard it as a Honda.  I sort of half recall it being on the back of a magazine in the mid 70s for a red devil add.  Can't say for sure, and have never been to Newcastle, so can not fill in the rest.

Apparently you can only ride one bike at a time, and hence you should only have one bike.  :(

Only one I remember is the Suzuki ad where Beetle Bailey rode a DR250 round a paddock and jumped it, etc. Had an army theme I think?

I remember a poster for Ariel in the window of Baglee and Westons bike shop at Fairfield in the early fifties it had this doll with the bike and the caption read "lovely to look at, delightful to ride" which made quite an impression on this young teenager with his push-bike. cheers pancho.
