Dirt Track News
History to be made as dirt-bikes prepare to hit Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway
Sunday, August 15, will mark an important milestone for Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway and the sport of Dirt Track Racing in NSW, when The Sydney Dirt Bike Spectacular kicks-off a series of planned dirt bike racing events at world-class raceway - for the first-time ever.

The Sydney Dirt Bike Spectacular will feature all major senior and junior classes of Dirt Track racing aboard both two and four-stroke bikes and quads. (see complete list of classes below).

The August 15 meeting will be the first of many proposed Sunday race events across the next 12-months - all aimed at returning grass-roots racing to the major stage, showcasing the rapidly growing sport to the masses whilst giving riders the chance to display their skills in front of adrenaline-filled fans.

Fox Sports will be on-hand to present all of the action, which will appear nationally on Fox Sports with a dedicated one-hour highlight program in the following weeks.

This event will be a major step forward for the sport of Dirt Track Racing, opening doors to allow competitors of all ages to take part in meetings at a world-class, speedway-style stadium - complete with grandstands and corporate facilities.

All Corporate Suites will be available for hire during the day’s action with enquiries forwarded to the Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway office.

A full set of Motorcycling NSW Supplementary Regulations will available online

All Competitor Enquiries should be directed to the Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway office on 02 9637 0411 or [email protected]

Sounds like these will be great events. I remember riding at a very early Supercross event in 1978 at the Granville Speedway is this what is now the Parramatta Speedway?

Yeah I was in Green that week. Don't remember who the photographer was but the TV crew was from Channel 9, I think.

Cheers Stan.

Sounds like a great concept, not a cheap entry fee though, I hope the meeting is well marketed, as "gate" (spectator $$) are the only way that

competitor entry fees can be reduced.

Raced at the first (?) bike speedway meeting there in '88 I think . . . . .(maybe "89) in front of a "official" crowd of 9000 people.

I hope these numbers can be repeated.

Cheers

No harm in asking for a cheaper entry rate.Give the pre75/85 bikes a run and the spectators quality for money well spent.  8)

I remember going down to Granville for that supercross with Vern Grayson to race the Norton Wasp. It was just after the train crash that took out the overbridge and a few were squashed. Very messy.
I can't remember how we went at all-it's just a blank, so if anyone has a program I would love to see it.
