were can you buy plastic sheets to make your own side covers as you see some guys doing

Just look up plastic suppliers in the Yellow pages and ask for Polyethylene sheet. I got some from http://www.dotmar.com.au/

what was it like in thickness/strength and how big are the sheets

I got 3mm because i use i for panneling on sidecars. Its pretty strong, flexible and wont snap/break. Ive also had it from Bunnings before aswell. Sheets from Dotmar were about 1200 x 2000 or 1600 from memory.
