1980 CR250 silencer
« on: June 25, 2010, 07:14:45 am »
Men of red whilst it pains me to ask,(given I have outed myself I can admit its me )a mate of mine needs to know if the silencer from a 1978/1978 CR250R model interchanges with the 1980 CR250RA.
All help apreciated,I shall remove my yellow blinkers this one time to help him.

PS Whats is the 1980 CR250RA like for parts sourcing??,my mate has a 90% complete bike that needs a silencer and airbox...

That was a 125.
Craig I don't know the answer to that one.
I thought the 125 ones were the same as they looked the same.
I will try to find out.
(sure its for a mate. You closet Hondaphile!)

the air boxes are interchangeable although very slightly different .the 80 model is better apparently. the silencers could probably be made to fit ,they are different because the pipe s are different and the stinger ends at a differet point on the frame.Im sure it would nt be a huge drama.
80 models are relatively rare here but there plenty of parts on us ebay.

Yes suzukis are better apart from the heinous RM500 rod shortage!

mmmmm - first yz parts now honda parts.  I get the feeling if you were being honest Craig (you closet f--) you are just having a look around at something good to replace the yellow shite you currently have.  Mate - one word of advice from your good buddy Rossco (aka CMD) - from what I have been told about your riding skills go with the YZ 80 - the improvement from where you are currently and what you have would be genuinely noticeable  ;D

No No just kiddin.

I am not sure from memory they are very simular in the muffler but as you know the pipes are not due to the 80 model being a centre port.

Sir Brad averylot has an 80 model 250 so I could give him a muffler I have to try on to see if it fits.

I am sure it would be at worst a reweld of the mount thats all.

I have an old original 79 muffler you could have if you like eitherway.

Let me know.
