Vintage expansion chambers
« on: December 28, 2007, 12:27:14 am »
I noticed in a few pics some guys have chrome modern era pipes on their bikes and was wondering who actually sells new pipes for pre 85 bikes? Or do most blokes keep getting their old pipes fixed?

Dirt overstock in the states sells alot of DG pipes. You should be able to deal with DG direct. Closer to home look for an ad in for sale section of the classifieds(not in forum) for Paul's ad as he has alot of DG nos pipes and mufflers. Then there is GMC pipes who does heaps.Geoff's ad is on the home page. The home grown guys are easy to deal with (go figure) and i have read a few complaints about dirt over.

You can get chrome Pro-circuit pipes for pre85 model bikes still. Just get in contact with Pro-circuit.
If at first you dont succeed, give up and drink beer

also Retro Rocket Pipes from www.vintageiron.com

circle F - http://www.circlefexhaust.com/

Jemco - http://www.jemcoexhaust.com/

and there is also Pro Form but i dont know what is going on with them. their website is not working properly and i can only get to bits and piecess of it through the wayback machine or internet archive.

you can also get chamber repair sections for some bikes. i know you can get them for PE 250/400 and they would probably fit bikes like RM 250 T/N. also i believe they have them for IT yams. the website is http://www.mlbnz.co.nz/

if you want a silver coating then try
HPC coatings-HPC are down in Leongatha about 2 hours SE of Melbourne.

or JET-HOT -they operate out of Castlemaine about 1 hours drive NW of Melbourne.JET-HOT Coating Australia Pty. Ltd. 26 Elizabeth Street, Castlemaine 3450 Victoria Australia free call 1800 700 468

i am told Jet Hot is better than HPC

i think there is a JET HOT website so have a search for more info ......... ok just did the search my self here it is http://www.jet-hot.com.au/

Circle-F is good,  but like previous comment,  they do take a while in production.  Make sure you get someone decent to weld it together when it arrives.  For packing only,  the piece between the expansion chamber and the muffler comes separate.  You'll need to weld it up either on the bike,  or clamp/tack it etc.

Pro-Circuit is my other pick.  The Chroming is far better than other offerings.  Pro-Circuit wont ship direct though.  You need to contact Monza Imports.  They are a wholesaler, so if you have a M/C shop that is friendly,  get them to get on your behalf.

Hope this helps.

The pipe looks good from where I'm sitting.  ;D I would just look at as many pictures of 125 TMs as I could some one will give you the idea how to adapt a muffler. Some of the mufflers now days are longer in the body so you will be able to hang it from the same point.jimson
