'77 VB 250
« on: May 28, 2010, 08:54:37 am »
We all go ga-ga over the '77 VB 360 (rightfully so) but has anyone got a '77 VB 250 or at least a picture of one (with the rear frame loop)?
My brother had the '78 VB 250 and was an awesome bike as well however I think the previous years bike must have been a killer.

Anyone?  :-\

There's one sitting unused about 10klm from me. Doubt he will ever sell it although I do ask now and again.
Cheers,
K

Did they have a different colour tank stripe to that (I thought the stripes on the one pictured meant it was a 360)?

You know how there are some bikes you should have kept? I had one for awhile - even raced it at Barabool for a Viper round. Awesome motor in it and handled well. Felt a bit tall at the rear but if I wasn't such a squid and rode it on the pipe it wouldn't have been noticed. Shoulda kept it. One of the sweetest lookers I reckon.
WANTED. Canams;all models,complete or parts.SWM stuff too!

Same tank stripe Ross, The '78 had a different stripe although again the same on both 250 and 360. Just about everything except cylinder, piston, head, ignition (internal rotor on this model only - VE & VF external), carbie, pipe and 5sp gearbox is inter-changable.

I guess this means that the 'new' possibility you mentioned in a post yesterday is a VB250 then ;)

The '78 VB250/360 had a gold & black stripe as Jared describes like this

Although I did not actually see any in Oz with that stripe. The couple (only two I think) of '78 VBs in NSW I saw had the same stripe as the '77. Not sure if this was somthing that just happened in NSW or did Lyall do some deal with factory similiar to the shipment of blue Cota 172's that landed here because the factory had them available and they did not sell in their intended destination of France  ???.

Gday Ross, from my memory, the 77 250 had the black and green stripes. The 77 360 had the black and yellow stripes. The 78 250 had the black and gold stripes and the 78 360 had the black and yellow stripes.
I would have pictures if you need them.

Regards Stan.

Thanks Stan. Yeah the '78 250 that my brother had, had the black and gold stripes, same as the one pictured above. It also had the very tastfull fiberglass airbox/raceplates made by a local Montesa man (it was Brookesy's old bike).  ;)
