bazza, hindsight is so wonderful sometimes..not! (insert a fair dinkum idiot smiley here) Working in the
bike industry from '78-'84 I had most of the Mr MX posters from the late 70's and early 80's but when I got
married I had a big cull of 'crap' I thought I'd never really want or need. Amongst the cull were these
posters and my magazine collection (Rev's and T&T) They were all well read, tatty and the posters now
quite 2nd hand from being shuffled from wall to wall using the good ol' sticky tape method of display
Fortunately the magazine collection was donated to the toilets at Phil Beaumont Motorcycles and
provided many with great reading matter whilst totally littering the throne room. Years later these mags
were collected and boxed up for the dump but a good friend had the foresight to stop by my house on
the way to the tip and my collection came home to roost..the rest as they say is history and I still have
them to this day. The posters on the other hand were screwed up along with my ultra-violet (black light)
posters and simply binned never to be seen again :'( I have 2 of these Mr MX posters nowdays with only
one being an original item from my adolescence but everytime I see any of them the great memories come
flooding back
A little trivia, the Mr Motocross series was promoted by Vince Tesoriero and his marketing and
promotions company was Forcefield Marketing. Vince was the man of motorsport promotion in the 70's
and organised for Pepsi and Golden Breed to sponsor the six-round series which included a stop in New
Zealand. He also promoted the Castrol 6 Hour.
The artwork was was illustrated by the late artist Peter Ledger who went onto achieve more fame as a
sci-fi and special projects artist in the USA.
