International VMX in NZ Easter 2011
« on: May 16, 2010, 03:02:02 pm »
Taupo VMX has secured Digger Mcewan Park or as some know it the Taupo moto X track for a 2 day international VMX event at easter 2011

The event will be run on Saturday April 23rd and Sunday April 24th giving people chance to travel on good friday and easter monday.

We hope to attract riders from the All across NZ , Australia and possibly further afield

It is currently still in the planning stages but the venue and date are confirmed.

Depending on interest proposed classes will be Pre 70 to pre 86 in all capacities .

The venue lends itself to being a very Vintage friendly track with possible variations to suit the pre 78 bikes and some of the bigger challenges in for the later classes.

Due to the Easter being a very busy time in the Taupo district it would pay to book accomodation early if you are keen to ride this event.

Entry forms will be available later in the year and updates posted on this forum.

Hey Bill how about Pre 90? ;)

Hey Bill how about a bike ?  ;) which got us thinking instead of carting/shipping bikes across the country & world. There is a wee bit of a need to start a bike rental/borrow system as other riders have said this "country's too big".
Fly and Ride system-Food for thought  ;D
cheers

Bill just a thought.. If our Nats get split into 2 there's always a chance one of them will be run on the old traditional Easter date.
Other than that i'd be keen to come over and race there next year.

Ground control to major Tom

Flying into Taupo visitors and locals alike are always struck by the size and beauty of the Lake. Located in the centre of New Zealand's exciting North Island Lake Taupo has a surface area of 616 square kilometres (238 sq mi), is the largest freshwater lake by surface area in Oceania, New Zealand's largest lake and is a similar size to the nation of Singapore.

The centrepoint of the vibrant Taupo district, Lake Taupo has a perimeter of approximately 193 kilometres, every kilometre bustling with exciting outdoor adventure.

Lake Taupo is drained by the New Zealand's longest river, the mighty Waikato while its main tributaries are the impressive Waitahanui, the Tongariro and the Tauranga-Taupo Rivers.

Created by a volcanic explosion approximately 26,500 years ago the Lake and surrounds provide a spectacular aerial view that tells everyone that this is a unique destination with much to offer.

Taupo Airport is the beginning of the Taupo experience at only eight kilometres from the centre of Taupo township and running alongside the lakebed. With approximately 35,000 aircraft landings and take-offs each year the Airport is the springboard for the largest commercial Tandem Skydive drop zone in the world and offers a range of scenic flights by helicopters, floatplanes and light aircraft.

Fishing and hunting safaris made by boat and air operating most days of the year.

We're here to help you access all that Taupo has to offer, so when you arrive at our Airport take the time to find out where all the adventure and activities are - we're happy to show you why we're one of New Zealand's premium destinations. While you're at our place we want you to see and feel the magic of the Lake and the people that live here.

and hopefully the weather is warmer than this at Easter   :P  :P   ;D

That's going to be a hard one for scrutineers seeing that most pre 75's have 7" of front travel. A typo perhaps Bill?
