yamaha thumper engine
« on: May 13, 2010, 09:07:21 am »
Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone around the greater Melbourne area has a single cylinder 4 stroke yamaha engine (400cc+) laying around?
Preferences would be for something requiring TLC, and provisions for electric start.
I'm a newbie to these things, so not too familiar with what sort of bikes these engines can be sourced from - at a guess it would be XT's, SR's etc.

Feel free to PM or email me.
Cheers,
Cam

Just watch the sump depth on the Honda FT etc... as they hang very low. Did the GN400 come with 'lecky?- food for thought.

Depends on what year/model. Some of the Terere's had electric start but the standard ones didnt until perhaps the 660 in the 90's

Hey guys, thanks for all the replies. I'm going through a Yamaha phase at the moment, so I'll see what's around before starting to look at Suzuki's or Hondas.
Vandy010, I'm in Melbourne - eastern suburbs.
