hey husky experts i brought in a 83 wr430 from the usa paint was pretty sad but on the tank decals along the bottom of the tank was malcolm smith within the decal was this a special malcolm smith replica thanks

  Hi shoreline,sure would like to see a pic if their's any chance before you do something with the bike/tank?,the only later husky i seen malcolm on was a 82' in on any sunday 2 but someone would know? cheers

There were lots of decals that said malcolm smith back then and im quite sure there was aftermarket tank decals with his company name in a corner or on the bottom as they were his aftermarket stickers he sold for various bikes. A photo would help answer it aswell. Its much the same as how you could buy aftermarket O'neal tank decals for the popular MX bikes and i have seen those with a small O'neal logo in the corner.

bike has already been repainted maclcolm smith was thru the decal along the bottom of the tank

Sounds like he he had his own replacement decals(as pe said) yanks had aftermarket gear coming out their ears in those days,got me thinking! a malcolm replica would be cool !

 Yeah i'd say his competitive riding career was over but not sure how long his aftermarket business went on for? but i think either way he'll live on forever in dirtbikes history

  Checked out MSR site(run by son) seems they only cater for modern gear, no retro/vintage. suppose thats where the big dollars are, dare say mal would have the odd WR 450 desert about somewhere though :D, the other manufacturer that i wish still had husky gear would be Pro-circuit they were the blokes with all the go fast goodies for evo huskys :-\
