GT80A update

Frosty when you take the the pipe off to repaint it you should paint the white 80 part of the exhaust badge RED as they were not white on the GT80A, (that year only) they were white the first year and from the GT80B onwards, sorry I am being anual about the badge , the GT80 looks great.

Hi Stewart, no Glen had the first model 73 GT80 known as the GT1, his was the same colour blue as frosty's but with a different style of white strip, I can still remember him flying past me on an early Sunday morning down Deadmans Hill on Heathcote rd flat out on that GT80 with sparks come from the exhaust on our way out to Meni, I think I was on my XR75 LOL

And I haven't painted the badge only because my mate doesn't want me to I don't know how his looked when new but he does it came from Peter Stevens in Melbourne but I don't know they may have used some other bits from a 73 model it is definetly a 74 when we stripped the tank the graphics were still there and they were 74 style and I did have a photo of it new.

I can always paint the badge but my mate might get mad about it.

Here is a photo from when it was new the only one that my mate could track down I am sure he would have had others but the bushfires took care of them.

Looks the goods Frosty.....I dont know what it is as I never had a bike untill I was 15 but I love the little 80's....it's pretty cool someone your age doing a bike that your Father probably lusted after. ......keep up the good work.

Thanks Davey, my Dad did use to ride it it was his best friends bike, one of the stories he tells me about it is how when his mate got it new they were ridding it around a small yard and Dad stacked it and busted the back indicator off this is when it was brand new, his mate was pretty pissed about it.

I have a couple of bikes I want to do up the same my pe400z and my rd250cd and who knows what else, thanks Michael.

Thanks Firko, yes it has taken a long time to get it like this it is ready to fire up and it should run like new I had a bit of fun finding spark though, I found a wire hadn't been pushed in properly and then I thought I would hold the wire for the coil and copped a fair zap.

I put a nos plug cap on yesterday I just need to get some screws for the levers fit the brake light switch fix the clutch cable and then I am finished.

I also have a plate coming for just a novelty one but the right size and it will say GT80A should finish the bike off, thanks Michael.
