This August 7th & 8th, the King of the Cross-Southern Cross Motocross Club-25th year anniversary
Held at Southern Cross 360 km east of Perth on the first full weekend in August.
Juniors on the Saturday and Seniors on Sunday.
Between 450-500 riders for the entire weekend. This year is also Round 3 of the WAMX Womens State Motocross Championships, which will again attract the top female riders in the state as well as from the rest of the country, as big prize money is up for grabs.
As well as the ladies competing, the other classes will included the Pro, Intermediate, Clubman, Vets, Quads and Pre 1985 classes from yesteryear, all competing for a share of the $40,000 prize money kitty, with the winner taking out the $10,000 prize!
This year there will be a riding school on the lead-up Thursday and Friday prior to the event with Paul Broomfield and Paul Grant coaching. Camping is permitted at the track with Fireworks and full bar and canteen in operation all weekend, so sorry NO BYO
Some previous champions are set to compete in this historical event, will we see the riders from the past 25 years competing, Leisk, Gall, Hogan, Marmont, Gunter?
Southern Cross Motorcycle Club President Dwayne Kings has put out the invites to all the previous years winners of the event: “We have invited all the big names, we just need to wait and see if these can be confirmed, says Kings “Stephen Gall, Jeff Leisk, Craig Dack, Anthony Gunter, Graeme Smythe have all be invited just name a few. The Club has also invited top riders of today like Jay and Ryan Marmont as well as plenty more on the wish list”...
We cannot wait to be at the event, and having competed there in 2009 for the very first time in the ladies championship, MX Weekly's Nicki Shea-Howell rates it as one of her favourite tracks, if not the best in WA.
