MX100 located in qld

I have an MX100 for sale, has been in a shed for many years sitting until a recent clean of unsed items, I haven't even tried to get it going, motor turns over & bike is mostly complete. Located in gladstone qld

open to offers, will trade 86-87 yz250 parts ?  will try to help with any transport the buyer organises

I think you'll find that it's a DT100, a very different bike to the MX100.

You sure about that Firko? I reckon the later MX100s looked very much like that from memory.

I had one a while ago a 1983 and mx100 looked like that and dt is nearly identical they shared the same headlight as a yamaha IT 77 model.

The DT100 I am sure has the exact same motor and frame as the mx100 and the only difference for those years mx and dt was stickers and the dt would have had compliance the mx100 still had the headlight and taillight, thanks Michael.

I reckon you'd be right Michael, probably just the same bike with different graphics and lights to make it a DT...

Everyone is right, there were MX100's and then there were MX100's. Clear as mud! Some like the DT and the others like the MX125's. Up to '75 were similar to MX125's. '76 and onwards looked like the one above.

a mate at school had one of the later ones like Dave has advertised.
i remember riding it at the time and i really liked it for size and the peppy little motor.
my ride at the time was a YZ80D so i reckon it's a fairly good comparison for the kiddies

Jeez I'm glad you're back Doc....I thought I was going mad. A friends son once had an MX100 that was based on the '73 MX125 and had no idea the DT lookalike MX100 existed as those little bikes are outside of my interest zone. Anyone know why they called it an MX when DT already existed and is way more accurate a name?

not really
but the same bike has now morphed into the RT100

and keeps popping up when i do Yamaha RT1 searches on ebay.
there's also an RT180 which is basically a monoshock DT175.

Will the 125 top end bolt straight onto the early MX100 ? cos it wont bolt onto the later one (as is for sale)
They look the same as 125 cases but stud pattern is narrower than a 125  I thought the earlier model was a straight swap over to a 125 top end

Firko, I imagine it's kind of like the GT80 and MX80 offspring, one had all the bells and whistles for rego and the other just a fun playbike with no serious intent intended. Sort of like the DR125 and DRZ125 Suzuki. Most DRZ125's down here now have no lights or such but they aren't what you'd call a serious MX bike either. I guess there is a market for these bikes for people who want something relatively sedate, quiet and domesticated where rego isn't a prerequisite. I too like the early MX100's as I do MX125's and YZ125's up to '76 but with the later post '75 MX, you may as well buy a DT and simply remove the lights..same thing. I have a DT100 same as the pic below that I'd like to morph into an MX100 of early styling.

Pretty sure the early 100s were shorter stroke than the 125s of the same age, Bill.

pretty sure all the mx100 cranks had the numbers 558 stamp on them if that helps.and ill bet my left nut its a mx100 between 1980 and 1986
